About the Project
This concept project covers onboarding procedures for new-hire technical writers at a management consulting company.
Problem
This project addresses the importance of providing a comprehensive onboarding experience to newly-hired employees in the field of technical writing. Good onboarding courses reduce attrition, improve employee experience, and increase proficiency in the new tasks.
Solution
This course provides ongoing opportunities for the newly-hired technical writers to ease into their new company, know their immediate peers, and understand their responsibilities and scope of work within the organization.
Approach
The client for this concept project is a management consulting company that wants to provide a high-quality and comprehensive onboarding experience to their new employees.
I started my process by researching what makes onboarding effective. I also looked at what the day-to-day tasks of a technical writer were. A compelling onboarding experience is ongoing, collaborative, and supportive. Activities are grounded in the needs of the organization with the goal of developing proficiency, self-efficacy, and overall employee satisfaction.
This course will provide several modules of introductory information, scenario-based opportunities, and ongoing growth opportunities for early career or those new to the field. Participants will be able to learn and develop their skills using a 30-60-90 day plan. A course guide is included for quick reference.

About the Project
This is a concept project that introduces the Texas Third Party liability program to office staff in charge of processing claims
Problem
Medical office staff who process claims of Medicaid beneficiaries need to understand and apply the rules and requirements related to third-party liability in Medicaid.
Solution
Having a solid knowledge of these rules, regulations, and steps increases reimbursement opportunities, improves financial performance of Medicaid programs and providers, ensures compliance with program requirements, and ultimately improves access to health services for those in need.
Approach
The client for this concept project is a medical office that wants to improve recovery rates from their Medicaid beneficiaries who also have third-party insurance coverage. They recognize that it is in the best interest of their patient, their office, and Medicaid to consistently apply those rules and regulations. Patients will receive the services they need, offices will safeguard their budgets, and Medicaid will stay solvent and continue providing services to those in need.
I started my process by researching available sources from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. I organized the learning experience in three parts: What is Third-Party Liability, Rules and Responsibilities, and Processes.
This e-Learning module demonstrates the steps to determine third-party insurance elegibility, recovery methods, the rights and responsibilities of patients and stakeholders, how to identify third-party liability sources, and a quick scenario to practice and apply learned information.
